SUBSTANCE USE THERAPY
You don't have to hit rock bottom to want SOMETHING better.
Change starts with one honest conversation.
And let's be honest: There's nothing quite like a cold beer during happy hour with your colleagues or a mimosa at brunch with friends. But what begins as one drink while watching the big game with the boys can quickly spiral into ten, or a couple of glasses of wine can turn into finishing an entire bottle.
Maybe you’re noticing that you're using alcohol or marijuana more often than you'd like, either to shut your brain off or to relax at the end of the day. It's not that you're blacking out every weekend or on the verge of losing your job or getting kicked out of school. You're definitely not scoring zannies in some seedy motel on Colfax! Yet, your gut is telling you something needs to change, but the idea of never drinking again feels f*#%ing daunting! Believe me, I get it.

WELL GOOD NEWS...
There's a middle ground!
Many of my clients find themselves torn between wanting to change their relationship with alcohol and other substances but aren't interested in complete sobriety. They realize that their current habits aren’t working for them anymore, yet the concept of sobriety can feel too black and white —you're either “sober” or “not.”
Well, not here. Together, we will step into the "shades of grey" area of substance use and find what works best for you!
Cheers to that!
STEP 1
One of the first things we will explore together is whether alcohol ENHANCES your experiences—like enjoying a glass of Cabernet with dinner—or if it has BECOME the experience, such as automatically accepting the next drink.
STEP 2
Next, we’ll examine your INTENTIONS behind drinking—are you using it to cope with stress, FOMO, or simply because your enjoy the taste of a nice margarita on the rocks while spending time with friends on a Saturday night.
STEP 3
With this new understanding, we will explore and experiment with different ways to engage (or disengage!) with alcohol in your daily life. You don’t have to give up everything; it's about finding what works best for you!
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Frequently Asked
Frequently Asked
-
What are your fees for counseling services? My fee is $185 for 60-minute counseling sessions and $225 for 90-minute/A.R.T. sessions. I prefer to allot time for the full therapy hour as it allows us to more deeply get into the real reasons you’re seeking therapy. A.R.T. sessions are scheduled in 90-minute slots to allow time at the beginning to discuss what memory we are targeting and time at the end for debriefing and reinforcement of new changes/insights.
-
Do you accept insurance? No. I am not in-network with any insurance provider, and psychotherapy sessions are self-pay only. However - I would gladly assist you in seeking reimbursement from your insurance provider by providing a superbill (it's like a receipt) that can be submitted for potential reimbursement. Alternatively, I have partnered with Thrizer, a payment application that handles this process automatically for you.

How does Thrizer work?During our initial consult, we will first check to confirm you have out-of-network benefits (OON). If you do have out-of-network benefits, Thrizer has two options for reimbursement: Option 1 allows you to only be charged your co-payment for the appointment. The other option allows you to pay for the therapy session and directly receive reimbursement from insurance. To learn more about these options and associated fees, please visit https://www.thrizer.com/ before our consultation to see if this might be a good fit for you.
